2019 Wooldridge Boats Sport Sportjet 17' Windshield

The Sport with a 200hp Sportjet is a hot rod. It accelerates hard and has a great top end.

The inspiration for this go-fast, go-anywhere machine was for our friends in Alaska who want a small boat with lots of power and the ability to get into tight places where they're not comfortable taking a bigger boat, explains Glen Wooldridge.

There's lots of room in this Sport and it has the fuel capacity for getting into the backcountry, with 50 gallons of fuel storage tucked under the floor of this all-welded aluminum boat.

And, it is a stout boat. As in all Wooldridge Sportjets the bottom basically has a double hull down the center of the planing surface. That means .350" of aluminum protection against impact damage.

Of course there are the many other benefits common with Wooldridge Boats, the large two-piece walk-thru windshield and recessed bow for easy access for folks and bulky gear. There's a forward walk-around as well. The forward wing provides extra wave deflection and that two-piece windshield offers excellent visibility for the driver, sitting or standing.

The toe kick along the gunnels means extra security for fishermen when they are working the fishing rod.

Another convenience that Wooldridge engineered into this Sportjet powered Sport is the large removable transom access panel. That means easy access for service and maintenance.

On the water, the get up quick and go fast isn't the only attribute that jumps out. This boat has a great reverse; thanks to a special Wooldridge reverse bucket Glen created for the Sportjet (it is available to retro fit 200 Optimax Sportjets). Wooldridge redesigned the bucket to enhance reverse thrust, a big plus when you are trying to back off the beach.

The 17' Sport is a specialty boat, and it is a hot rod. It GPS'd 48mph right out of the box, it's small and nimble and agile, yet has lots of room inside for folks and gear.

And, yes, it handles like a Wooldridge, because it is a Wooldridge!
